Nepal is known for its hand-papermaking. Many small businesses create anxious rural employment. The handmade paper is made from the bark of a shrub, locally known as "Lokta". ”Daphne cannabina”, as it is also called, grows on the southern slopes of Nepal’s Himalayan forests between 1600 and 4000 m.
