Bògòlanfini, Bogolan, or Mud Cloth, is a handmade cotton fabric traditionally painted with mud from the river Niger in Mali.
The cotton cloths are soaked in a dye bath consisting of mashed and boiled leaves of the N’gallama tree. After the cloth has sundried it is painted with a special mud, collected from river beds and then left to ferment for a year in a clay jar. A chemical reaction between the leaves and the mud makes the mud colour resistent. The result is totally eco-friendly. Afroart Studio has created a collection of plain geometrical patterns that enhances the most important ingredients of Bogolan; the hand spun cotton and the dark mud.
Inner cushion is sold separately.
